BOUT#1: ANEL DUDO (1-1) VS DANIEL PINON (DEBUT) AM. 135LBS
RD#1: Anel Dudo is first to the cage wearing black with red scl lettering. Pinon is wearing white with silver and red. Dudo fighting out of AFA gym in Denver has been adding a lot to his stand up after a background in wrestling. We shall see if it shows.
The first bell starts and the fighters circle each other. Dudo is pressing forward and misses with two jabs early. Pinon lunges with a jab of his own but like Dudo he misses as well. Dudo lands a couple nice kicks but over swings and Pinon lands a deep double leg that dumps Dudo square on his head but he is able to work his way back up. Pinon lands a nice flurry alongside the cage that momentarily sends Dudo Backwards. Dudo waits for his opportunity and counters Pinons next punch with a takedown of his own. Pinon too, works his way back to his feet quickly and the round finishes with the two in the clinch with Dudo against the cage.
RD#2: They trade early to start the round with a jab landing for Dudo. Pinon throws a big looping right hand that catches all glove. Dudo lands a big takedown early and moves to the back of Pinon. Dudo works strikes from the back position until Pinon traps his arm for the next minute. Dudo finally works his right hand out and lands multiple hammer fists as they eventually scramble back to their feet. Dudo lands a nice flurry and a big knee to end the second round.
RD#3: Both fighters come out aggressive and throwing but the more effective shots seem to be coming from Dudo early. Pinon scores a much-needed takedown where he sees his first dominant position of the fight but it doesn’t last long as Dudo goes for a deep armbar from the guard which forces a scramble that has Dudo on top for only a moment and then Pinon reverses him. Although on the bottom at the end of the fight it seemed Dudo was still going for the majority of the submissions. We shall see how the judges have it.
