BOUT#2: BENJAMIN LOPEZ (DEBUT) VS NOEL MAYO (DEBUT) AM. 125LBS
RD#1: Mayo comes out and overwhelms Lopez from the start of the opening bell. Multiple shots land and Mayo shows some great dirty boxing skills. I must say Lopez is very resilient for being the smaller fighter. Lopez has a chance to turn the tide toward the end of round one but Mayo once again puts the pressure on and lands multiple power punches as the round ends.
RD#2: Round two is the round of the night so far for me as both fighters seem to stun each other with both seeing success on their feet throughout the round. Lopez lands a big knee that seems to turn the momentum towards the end of the second but Mayo gets a chance to prove his toughness as he recovers quickly and lands big shots yet again.
RD#3: The third starts and they exchange early but surprisingly Mayo shoots for an early takedown that sees him get into a little bit of deep water as Lopez was inches away from sinking in an ankle lock but it slips through his grasp. The remainder of the final round saw Mayo close the deal in my humble opinion as he landed some great ground and pound towards the end of the fight.
